Audience Research: IMDb

Imdb

Mad Max Fury Road

Audience figures:

Popularity: was 22 but has gone down 15 places to 37 but the film was released 15th may 2015 what was 9 months ago, and to be in the top 40 films it shows how popular the film was and how successful it was.  This was defiantly due to the marketing campaign because it brought back all the old fans and lots of new ones and with the help of word of mouth it has been a hit.

What does this tell me about my target audience?

Our groups target audience is going to be young adult and above age. Our rating will be a 15. Most thrillers are rated 12a and above because of what a thriller has to include, and with our mafia theme it would be harder to have it as a 12a compared to a 15.  As we can see with the 2 film examples I have used, the most popular was the 15 rating because allot more teenagers watch action thrillers what both of them are but due to the 12a rating of ‘the hateful eight’ it is unable to bring out as much action as it possibly could. I think a 15 rating is prefect for our genre of thriller. But ‘mad max’ had a lot bigger budget so it was able to pull across all the action but it is possible to have action with a smaller budget and a mafia theme is perfect for this.
